Job Description for Worship Leader
Kern Park Christian Church
Salaried position based on an anticipated average of
17 hours per week ($18,000)
45 hours paid time off annually*
Reports to Senior Minister
Context
The Worship Minister/Leader will have the responsibility of
planning and leading Sunday morning worship and special services/events at Kern
Park Christian Church including, but not limited to, Easter, Maundy Thursday
(or Good Friday) and Christmas Eve (or Christmas day, depending on the day of
the week Christmas falls) services. He/She
will coordinate worship services and related activities with the Senior
Minister, Worship Commission Chair/Co-Chairs, and applicable other leaders to
ensure a smooth running, worship-filled service.
This person would be encouraged to attend the church
Cabinet meetings.
Duties
- Responsible
to plan worship, including the selection and direction/leading of music for
Sunday morning service.
- Work
with the Senior Minister and Worship Commission to plan and lead special
services/events.
- Approve
all music selections, vocalists and instrumentalists.
- Oversight
of all approved musical groups at Kern Park Christian Church.
- Encourage
congregational members to actively participate in choir, orchestra, solos,
praise leading, or other activity.
- Arrange
for coverage during planned absences and backups who agree to fill in during
unplanned absences.
- Work
with Worship Commission members to manage the Worship Commission budget.
- Coordinate
maintenance of all church instruments, sound equipment and visual aids, and
purchase of replacement and/or new equipment.
- Adhere
to copyright laws and keep all licenses current.
- Other
duties as assigned.

* Use of paid time off (PTO) is subject to approval
of the Senior Minister. Other than
in cases of family or medical emergency, no more than four Sundays may be taken
off per year (three for vacation and one for conference/education).

Prayer walking is the second
Saturday of the month for 2009. The time: 800 – 9:00 am will remain the same.
